Meneer Kenneth Gruschow schreef ons en stuurde het volgende.
Kenneth G. Gruschow was born 1922 in Brooklyn, New York and died 1990 in Richmond, Virginia.
Kenneth G. Gruschow werd geboren in 1922 in Brooklyn, New York en stierf in 1990 in Richmond, Virginia.
Shortly after WW2, he reenlisted and made the Army his career. He was wounded in Europe and later also saw combat in Korea. I still have a pair of wooden Dutch shoes with Kenny and Holland on them, that he sent back home to Brooklyn in 1944 or 45. He also had a brother, Clifford T. Gruschow (1921-2000), who was with the 187th Field Artillery Battalion, 394th Infantry, Company G (I believe of the 7th Army). They had a reunion during the war, either in Holland, France or Germany (not sure), but I have a photo of that meeting also. Cliff was also in the Normandy invasion. They both fought in Holland, France and Germany.
Kort na de tweede wereldoorlog, meldde hij zich weer aan en maakte het leger zijn cariere. Hij raakte gewond in Europa en vocht later in Korea. Ik heb nog steeds een paar Nederlandse klompen met Kenny en Holland erop, die hij in 1944 of 45 naar huis in Brooklyn stuurde. Hij had ook een broer, Clifford T. Gruschow (1921-2000) genaamd, Die was bij het 187th Veld Artillerie Bataljon, 394th Infanterie, Compagnie G (Ik geloof van het 7th Leger). Ze hadden een reünie gedurende de oorlog, in Holland, Frankrijk of Duitland (dat weet ik niet zeker), maar ik heb een foto van die ontmoeting. Cliff was ook bij the invasie van Normandie. Ze vochten allebei in Holland, Frankrijk en Duitland.
The picture of Ken, with the Timberwolf patch, probably was taken in 1945, he then was a Sergeant First Class. The other picture on a 155mm Howitzer cannon, has Ken on the left and his brother Cliff Gruschow on the right.
De foto van Ken, met het Timberwolf embleem, is waarschijnlijk gemaakt in 1945, hij was toen Sergeant Eerste Klasse. Bij de andere foto op het 155mm Houwitser Kanon, zie je Ken links en zijn broer Cliff Gruschow rechts.

In August two more pictures were send to us. Mrs Pfleger writes:" Two additional photos which were sent to me by Frank Bernard (413/Anti-Tank) The photos were taken At Fort Lucky Strike At the port of embarkation in LaHarve, France probably in June 1945."
In Augustus 2002 zond mevrouw Pfleger ons nog twee foto's, ze schrijft: "deze twee foto's kreeg ik van Frank Bernard (413/Anti-Tank), De foto's zijn gemaakt in Fort Lucky Strike, bij de inschepings haven in LeHavre, Frankrijk waarschijnlijk in Juni 1945."

I can only identify Bob Hohe in the back row on the left and my dad on the right. I believe these men are all from 413 Anti-Tank. Perhaps you can ask if anyone recognizes them. (if you do could you please tell us????) (our e-mail address is at the bottom of this album) |
